After lengthy detention and legal complications, families from Croatia who were detained in Zambia were finally released. However, lawyer Sandra Marković, who represents one of the families, points out that they will feel real relief only when they pass immigration controls and board the plane to return to Croatia. They are currently under strict police protection while they wait for the necessary documents to return home.

The background to this case involves allegations related to the legality of adoption of children from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Croatian families were accused of illegal procedures during the adoption, but Sandra Marković consistently claimed that all the documentation was in order and legal. The trial was marked by many twists and turns, which made the situation even more difficult for the families.

An activist from Zambia, who also followed this case, emphasized that the fate of the adopted children will largely depend on further legal proceedings and evidence submitted by the Congolese authorities. His statements indicate the complexity of international law in the context of adoption and the need for a thorough legal fight to ensure children's rights.

Despite the acquittal, Sandra Marković points out that the families still face further challenges. It will continue to fight for the return of children to Croatia, cooperating with Croatian institutions to ensure the safe and legally valid return of children to their adoptive parents. The Croatian government and competent institutions are also involved in the process, providing support to families in their efforts to return home with their children.

The detained families went through a difficult legal battle, which included many twists and turns and uncertainties. Their release brought temporary relief, but the road to a final solution is still long and complex. Cooperation between international legal bodies, governments and activists, with the efforts of Sandra Marković, is essential to ensure that children's rights are respected and that the adoption process is completed in a legally valid manner.
